Volunteering terms and conditions
National Roads and Motorists’ Association Limited (NRMA) and Givit are independent business partners. NRMA will provide opportunities for its members, customer and employees to find volunteer opportunities which are listed on the Givit portal. These terms and conditions govern Your relationship with the NRMA. You will also need to review and agree to the Givit terms and conditions, which is available on the Givit website, and any requests and requirements of the organisation which are volunteering for this website.
In these T&C’s:
Community Partner means the organisation listed on the Portal which is provding volunteer activities.
Community Volunteer Program means a volunteer opportunity from a Community Provider which is accessible via the Portal.
Portal means this NRMA volunteer platform, which is sourced and powered by Givit.
Registration means the process in which You register for a Community Volunteer Program.
Volunteer Role means the role which You elect to undertake as a volunteer worker, as sourced from this Portal.
You or Volunteer means You who decides to participate in an volunteering activity through a Community Volunteer Program.
1. Your obligations
You agree that You:
- will not receive a wage or salary to undertake the Volunteer Role;
- have the skills, knowledge and/or ability to undertake the Volunteer Role;
- have chosen to undertake this Volunteer Role freely and at Your own discretion;
- have completed the Registration truthfully and to the best of Your knowledge;.
- will participate in all relevant induction and training programs provided by the Community Partner;
- will only undertake duties You are authorised to perform and always operate under the reasonable direction and supervision of the Community Partner;
- will behave appropriately and courteously to others at all times;
- will take reasonable care for Your own health and safety.
2. Induction and training required before You start in the volunteer role
NRMA is committed to the support of our member’s health and safety. For this reason it is our recommendation that all volunteers undertake induction and/or training prior to commencing their volunteer position.
3. Requirements
Before You commence the Volunteer Role, please check with the Community Provider for any specific requirements. For example, You may need to provide a Working with Children Check or a copy of Your driver’s licence. NRMA will not have access to any personal information or records which You submit to the Community Provider as part of the Volunteer Role.
4. Confidentiality
The activities performed by volunteers may involve access to confidential information. You agree not to discuss sensitive or personal information of others with members of the public or other volunteers. All volunteers agree not to provide any comment or statement to any or all forms of media, whether such media is acting independently or for a media organisation.
5. No endorsement
All Community Partner Volunteer programs are provided through Givit. The information about providers and services contained on the Portal does not constitute endorsement or recommendation by NRMA.
6. Liability
- We are not liable for any kind of loss or damage, to property or personal injury, which arises in connection with a Volunteer Role.
- We are not responsible for the actions or inactions of Community Partners their volunteering activities. We make no representation and give no warranty, guarantee or assurance about the truth or accuracy of any information provided by a Community Partner in relation to any volunteer activities.
- We exclude all liability for loss or damage of any kind caused by the acts or omissions of, a Community Partner including any act or omission that is contrary to these terms, negligent, defamatory, illegal or infringes the rights of another person.
- We exclude liability for any loss or damage which is incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive or indirect.
- Any term, condition or warranty which would otherwise be implied into this agreement is excluded. To the extent our liability cannot be excluded, our liability to You for breach of these terms, or in tort (including negligence) or for any other common law or statutory cause of action is limited to $100.
7. Your Privacy
NRMA takes the privacy of its members and customers seriously. The personal information which You disclose in the Portal will be used to facilitate Your request to undertake the Volunteer Role. It will be shared with Givit and other third parties for the same and related purposes. We ask that You read the NRMA Group Privacy Policy which is available on the mynrma website, to understand how we collect, handle and use Your personal information.
8. General
- NRMA reserves the right to amend, suspend, withdraw or terminate access to the Portal at any time and without notice to You.
- NRMA may change these terms from time to time. We will endeavour to ensure You are aware of any changes to these terms that affect You. The current terms will be published on our website. You should check the terms on our website regularly, or contact us to obtain the current terms. Your continued use of the Portal will mean You accept the latest version of these terms and conditions.

Information contained in this website is for general information purposes only. Information is provided by National Roads and Motorists’ Association Limited (NRMA) and while NRMA endeavours to keep the information up to date and correct, NRMA make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability with respect to the website or the information, products, services, or related graphics contained on the website for any purpose.
